Common Questions
Garage Door Service FAQs
Have a question about your garage door? You are not alone. Below we have answered the most common questions we hear from Calgary homeowners and businesses about garage door repair, installation, and maintenance.
If you do not see your question listed here, our team is just a phone call or email away. We are always happy to help.
Do you replace larger and oversized garage doors?
Yes. Aspen Woods has many double and oversized doors, and we supply and install insulated steel doors sized and styled to fit, with options for windows, colours, and finishes. We match the opener to the door’s weight.
Should I repair or replace my garage door?
Repair if the door is structurally sound and only a part has failed. Replace if you want better insulation, a different style, or curb appeal, or if several panels are damaged. Because doors are so visible on Aspen Woods homes, upgrades are common. We give an honest recommendation either way.
Are insulated garage doors worth it in Calgary?
For an attached garage on the exposed west side, yes. An insulated door keeps the garage warmer, reduces drafts into the house, and helps a heavier door stay stable through big temperature swings. It also tends to run more quietly.
My double garage door is very heavy to lift. Is that a problem?
It usually points to a worn or broken spring, or a spring that is undersized for the door. A heavy door strains the opener and is a safety concern. Have it inspected, and do not lift a large door by hand if a spring has failed.
Can you upgrade the opener on a big garage door?
Yes. We install heavy-duty belt-drive and smart openers sized for larger doors, which run more quietly and add phone control. We program every remote and keypad during the visit.
How long does a garage door replacement take?
A standard replacement takes a few hours in one visit. A larger or custom door, or a job that includes a new opener, may take a little longer. We confirm timing when we quote the work.
